Til death do we part - from the cigarette

 

I think habitual smokers understand now very well how much they can be alienated from society because of their supposed unsocial habit of drawing from a simmering leaf that has been transformed into an acceptable look and given a name that makes it fit into environmental slots of acceptability. The cigarette, the cigar and the pipe; all being drawn upon by avid and passive users alike as they all (and some with greater intensity), take whiffs of smoke that will in some way make a major contribution to the demise of their health. I mean, it’s actually quite stupid really and beyond rational reasoning as to why smokers would want to cause themselves and others harm. Surely these habitual smokers as they engage in their seductive masochism realize that their moments of pleasure are very harmful, but for some perhaps not as they retort with the infamous words of a marriage vow “’til death do us part”......Read More
